Cllr. Teresa Sims
Welcome to my web-site, which I hope you find interesting and informative, but to ensure that I am giving you the best possible service, I would appreciate any comments/suggestions of what you want me to include.
But first, you may like to know a little bit about me and my background:
My first introduction to local politics was in the mid 80’s, when I voiced great concerns over a planning proposal in my Ward and forwarded my concerns to Eccleston Parish Council, who addressed my concerns very quickly, and put my mind at rest - and as they say, the rest is history ! I was duly elected to the Parish Council, and am now the longest serving Eccleston Parish Councillor, having been Chairman 6 times.
In l990 I was elected to the St. Helens District Council, and have been very fortunate to have represented Eccleston ever since.
In May 2006 I had the great honour to be elected as the first Liberal Democrat Mayor for our Town, and prioritised youth involvement in my mayoral year,to try to break down a lot of barriers to our young people understanding how local democracy works
On completing my mayoral year, I took on the responsibility of Executive Member for Safer Communities which I thoroughly enjoyed for a period of 3 years, as it enabled me to work alongside many agencies to help reduce crime and the fear of crime.
On a personal note, myself and my husband have two adorable grandchildren, who have brought such a richness to our lives, and they certainly keep us on our toes !
